The Reserve
Deputy Sheriff program allows citizens to assist law enforcement without
becoming full time law enforcement officers. Reserve Deputies are primarily
used to supplement the Patrol Division and perform all of the duties of
a Deputy Sheriff while on duty. A Reserve Deputy Sheriff is a peace office
only while on duty. All applicants to the Reserve Deputy Program must
complete a California P.O.S.T. approved reserve academy prior to appointment.
