B.A.S.S.
The BASS Unit augments the Probation Department in assuring that probationers remain in compliance with the terms of their probation order. Compliance monitoring is an essential component of the probation process. Unfortunately, there are people who violate the terms of their probation. When they do, the BASS Unit is there to "reel them in".
Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving
The COPPS program focuses on community policing with five deputies assigned to specific unincorporated target areas around Chico, Oroville, and Gridley. Integration of the deputies into the communities and neighborhoods will seek to reduce narcotic activity in the target areas. Community based policing is a highly visible and immediate law enforcement presence that works with the neighborhood groups for law enforcement, prevention education, and community involvement.
