After
completing your vesting session, you've finally entered the Arena. Most
likely, it'sabout 4200 square feet, roughly. Your game marshal will show
you to your energizer. Hereat the energizer, you'll energize your gun, and
by doing that, you gain four lives. For eachlife, you can fire 20 shots,
or if you get tagged by an opponent, you also lose a life. As youhold the
gun in front of the energizer, you will here a neat little sound, and that
is how you know you have energized. Also, your gun will say "Defense shield:
Active, Active"After everyone on your team has energized, you will be shown
to your headquarters by the Marshal. Onceyou're there, just wait for the
Marshal to come onto the P.A. and then, they will announce that your game
is about to begin.
After you hear the
Marshal announce that the game has begun, the fun really begins. You begin
movingthrough the arena if you're chosen for offence, and if you get chosen
to defend, you will stay near the base, and keep a close eye out for enemy
players. But for now, back to offence. You make your way through themaze
of barriers and walls, looking for other players, and when you see the opposite
colored lights, FIRE!You'll know if you hit them, because you'll see the
lights on their vest and gun start flashing between the normal color and
yellow. But suddenly, you feel a tremble on your chest. "Uh oh" you think,
rememberingwhat the marshal said about when you get hit..."You'll feel the
panel on your chest tremble." "Dang...I've beenhit." you think. Your thoughts
are confirmed by the voice coming from you gun saying "Defense shield: Active,
active, warning, warning, warning." After you hear the third warning, you're
back in the action. And hopefully, you've been hiding during these last
six seconds, because for every second you hear "warning", you've been open
to enemy fire, even though you couldn't fire you own gun. So now you continue
your search for the enemy. As you come around a wall, you are greetedwith
a flash of light whizzing past your face, enemies ahead. You prepare yourself,
and move around the corner, watchingfor those enemy lights, finger on the
trigger. There they are! You pull the trigger and see that greatly motivatingyellow
lights light up. A hit! Ah-ha...there's the base! Slowly you approach the
dome, and carefully move under it,looking for enemies the whole time. Finally,
you look up and see the three little circles OOO that you must fire into. You
pull the trigger, one shot off...Suddenly a light is shining in your face
confirming your first hit, you count, 1-2, and fire again. A siren sounds,
a strobe light flashes...you've made your kill. The base is deactivated...but
only for 30 seconds. All of a sudden, you feel that horrible tremble strike
again, you look around, and realize that you were just hit by an enemy hidingbehind
that wall! A couple of hits later, you hear a new message coming from your
gun. "Return to energizer." Realizing that youare out of lives, you begin
to make your way back to your energizer. Mere seconds later, you're reenergized,
and ready to continue. And that's just the fun of playing offense! Defense
is practically the same, except you protect your own base, rather than trying
to deactivate the other teams base.
So now, 15 minutes
later, you hear the Marshal's voice over the P.A. once again. "Attention
Q-zar players, your game is now over.Return to your energizer to download
your information, then proceed to the vesting room." Your adrenaline flow
slows down along with your heartbeat, and you return to your energizer to
download your laser. The final download sends all your info to the computer,
whichthen figures out the scores. After removing your vest and laser, you
walk to the front counter to get your score card to see how you did.
