The Butte County
Search and Rescue Team is a group of citizens who are skilled in many
facets of SAR disciplines. Due the the varied, and sometimes rugged terrain
of Butte County, the Search and Rescue team plays a crucial role in locating
and rescuing lost or endangered persons. Whether in water, on land, or
in the air, the Search and Rescue team does its part to protect the citizens
of Butte County.
The Butte County
Search and Rescue Team is a non-profit, all volunteer and non-tax supported
unit of the Butte County Sheriff's Office. Search & Rescue team members
are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They take time away from
jobs and family to provide rescue services for Butte County, and as a
mutual aid agency, will respond anywhere in the State they are requested.
Our nationally
accliamed Butte County Search and Rescue was the lead agency involved
in the evacuation of Butte Creek Canyon during the flood of 1997. They
set up and carried out the evacuation and monitored water levels throughout
the crisis, responding to over 100 calls during the height of the flood.
They were also involved in a number of swift water rescues.
